Välkomna till den femte upplagan av Tattoo Expo Göteborg

Det har varit roligt att få höra all positiv kritik efter att vi flyttade mässan från Vågen till Eriksbergshallen. Själva var vi lite nervösa av att gå från en centralt belägen lokal till en som var så långt utanför (i mina ögon) men där hade vi helt fel, det visade sig att Göteborgarna inte var rädda att hoppa på en buss eller färja. Förra året var som sagt en dundersucce och det sattes publikrekord alla dagarna, precis som vid vår senaste tatueringsmässa i Malmö. Så det är kanske den trenden vi ser nu när man ser Kat Van D från Miami Ink på billboards över hela landet, tatuering har kanske gått och blivit rumsrent rent av.

Eriksbergshallens lokaler är ju större och det har vi tagit fasta på. Vi har utnyttjat varje meter och det kommer inte mindre än 16 utställare och 45 tatuerare från 8 olika länder. Göteborgsmässan har aldrig varit fetare.

Vad är nytt då? Vi har bjudit in The Lizardman som har vigt sitt liv åt kroppsmodifiering, så ta chansen å snacka med honom när han knallar runt här inne, missa inte heller hansbisarra show på scenen. Vi har också nöjet att ännu en gång tillsammans med Sjöfartsmuseet presentera en tatueringshistorisk utställning, så ta er tid att lära er om Göteborgs tatueringshistoria.

The honest art

The filthy rich artist that sells his paintings for hundreds of thousands and whose art it is later speculated in is for the most part a myth. Sure he exists, but in our country he is very rare. We don't have any Rauschenberg, Kandinsky or Lichtenstein. Most artist in Sweden are forced to live on wellfare or government grants. It is your taxmoney and mine that see to that these painters and sculpters have the opportunity to make art in this country. Everyone is entitled to an opinion on this issue but a country without art is a very poor country, it may not even be a country at all. When we study civilizations that are long gone we judge them from the wars they fought and the art they created. The art of tattoing differs from most other artforms since its practitioners, the tattoo-artist, usually can make a good living of their craft. He doesn't try to force his art on others either. There is no speculation within the art of tattoing. Nobody gets a tattoo as an moneyinvestment. The works of art that I wear on my body are not for sale even if they were done by masters. That is why tattoing is an honest art.

Tattoo Expo Sweden is something as special as a convention where you yourself meet the masters. Here are some of the greatest artists in the world! So take your time and enjoy the art.
